The Hay Festival is the world’s leading festival bringing readers and writers together to share stories and ideas. For 11 days a year many thousands (the 1st festival attracted 1,000 people but is now up to 250,000) of people come from all over the UK, Europe, America and the rest of the world to join a carnival celebration of ideas and stories at the Hay Festival.
The festival is free to enter with ticketed events taking place in 10 tented venues plus a range of sites to explore, including the Festival Bookshop; the HAYDAYS courtyard; the Hay Festival Wild Garden; creative workshops in the Make and Take Tent, the Scribblers Hut, The Cube and the Mess Tent; market stalls, cafés and restaurants; and the Serious Reading Room.
